Info:
If we could go back 150 years and walk the streets of Sevilla, Granada, Cordoba, or Jerez in Andalucia, Spain, on a warm summer night, we might find ourselves walking to the bars and taverns, referred to as "cafes cantantes" (singing cafes). There you would find the music we know today as Gypsy Flamenco, created and played by the Spanish Gypsies.
The new CD “Ayaya” recovers and reproduces the music played by the Spanish Gypsies for the last 120 years. And now for the first time it is played on the Electric Guitar. Every composition has been chosen carefully to enable the listener to hear the music of the Golden Time of Flamenco, then at its height of creativity, and played with total fidelity.
To put together this project, we worked together with some of the best musicians, relatives, and family descendants, of the original Gypsy families who created and maintained this repertoire for generations through oral transmission. The Amador’s from Sevilla, Habichuela’s from Granada and Parrilla family from Jerez.
